Roadside Safety incorporates CogLock into its truck tyre training

An independent training organisation serving the haulage, logistics, roadside recovery and tyre fitting sectors has added its support to CogLock — the innovative new wheel security system designed to prevent wheel detachment.

Roadside Safety, founded in 2011 by Stuart Powell, has become a respected name in industry training. Stuart, a former National Training Manager at Goodyear Dunlop, was responsible for developing several IMI-accredited tyre fitting qualifications. Now, he’s incorporated CogLock into Roadside Safety’s truck tyre fitting training programme.

Stuart Powell, Managing Director of Roadside Safety Ltd, said:
“Having seen the aftermath of wheel detachment and the serious consequences that follow, anything that helps reduce the risk of loose wheels is worth supporting. CogLock’s simple yet highly effective approach to securing the wheel to the hub is a smart step forward for wheel security in the commercial vehicle sector.”

CogLock offers a robust, triple-action solution: a visible indicator for movement, a secure locking mechanism, and reduced maintenance checks — all aimed at improving safety and efficiency across fleets.

Chris Coghill, Founder and Director of CogLock, said:

“We’re proud to be working with Stuart and the team at Roadside Safety. Their endorsement means CogLock is now part of the conversation in truck tyre training — exactly where it needs to be. Awareness is crucial, as technicians need to understand how the system works. Partnering with Roadside Safety gives us direct access to those working at the roadside and in workshops.”

Roadside Safety is a recognised training provider under the National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA)’s Professional Development Scheme and a key member of the REACT Steering Group — which licenses all commercial tyre technicians working at the roadside, supported by National Highways.

To date, nearly 2,000 technicians have completed Roadside Safety’s training on safe roadside working practices. In 2022, Stuart Powell was awarded the NTDA National Chairman’s Award for his outstanding contribution to tyre safety awareness.

CogLock is suitable for all HGVs, buses and coaches. It’s already gaining traction with fleet operators, vehicle providers, and customers looking for a proactive way to prevent wheel loss or resolve persistent issues with loose wheel nuts.
