The event will run from 11:00 to 13:00 in The Loft, above the Hall 3 entrance — and all RTX visitors may attend free of charge.

Bridge strikes remain one of the most persistent and costly safety issues facing the UK transport sector. With 25,764 bridge strikes recorded over the past 15 years, the topic continues to be a major focus for the Traffic Commissioners and the wider industry.

About Destination Zero Destination Zero is a transport industry led safety campaign committed to achieving its core Mission:

To reduce — and ultimately eliminate — bridge strikes on UK roads by supporting fleet operators to minimise risk, prevent incidents, and reduce associated damage and insurance costs.

This mission is driven by three pillars:

• Changing company culture — embedding safety-first thinking across organisations
• Raising driver awareness — improving behaviour, professionalism, and hazard recognition
• Creating a zero tolerance culture — making bridge strikes unacceptable across the industry

Ambassadors & Champions

Destination Zero welcomes two groups of supporters:

• Ambassadors — individuals or organisations promoting the initiative (non fleet operators)
• Champions — fleet operators committed to implementing the campaign’s safety principles

Champions receive access to a suite of practical tools, including:

• Policy statement template
• Free e learning toolbox talk
• Driver noticeboard posters
• Behaviour focused post collision procedure

These resources are designed to support both organisational learning and driver development.

Event Details

• Road Transport Expo (RTX)
• Wednesday 1st July , 11:00–13:00

Why Attend

The conference will bring together industry leaders, safety experts, fleet operators, and campaign supporters to discuss:

• Tools and resources available to operators

This is a key opportunity for anyone in the transport sector to engage with a national safety initiative and contribute to meaningful change.
