The business, established more than 20 years ago, has built a strong reputation for delivering professional scaffolding service across London and the South East. It currently runs a fleet of 10 trucks – the majority being 18-tonne DAF XDs – alongside trailers and a selection of LCVs.

Established by Managing Director Kevin Withers, Esher Scaffolding has grown over the past two decades into a thriving business that employs more than 30 operatives and 10 staff at its head office. Kevin’s original ethos of a business that is passionate and committed continues today – and it is recognised by clients who trust Esher Scaffolding to deliver on its promises in the most efficient, safe and convenient ways.

To help maintain these standards, and to ensure safety and efficiency are ensured, Esher Scaffolding has committed to Axtec’s technology across its truck fleet. The Onboard Axle Load Indicator, now installed in all of the company’s trucks, provides clear and accurate load and weight information in real time. As a result, the driver can be confident that they are travelling with a safe, legal load before they start their journey to or from the depot.

Anthony Cacace, Transport Manager at Esher Scaffolding, said: “We chose Axtec because it specialises in axle weight monitoring and the system integrates well with our fleet. As a business, we are delighted with the Load Indicator’s accuracy and reliability – and how easy it is for our drivers to use and understand.”

Cacace added that the instant feedback provided from the Axtec Onboard Load Indicators to the driver means they have extra confidence when loading up the trucks with equipment. “It reduces the risk of overloading and protects our drivers as well as the business,” he said. “From my perspective, as a transport manager, it gives me peace of mind knowing we’ve taken proactive steps to stay compliant. In scaffolding every load is different; you’re dealing with tubes, boards and fittings and the weight distribution can change depending on the job.”
Esher Scaffolding has also taken advantage of an attractive maintenance package offered by Axtec, “The units are checked regularly, and adjusted if necessary to make sure they are in optimum working condition for our drivers,” explains Cacace. “As a result, we have not had any overloading instances and we are confident that the technology will continue to help us remain safe and compliant.”
