Les Searle Group has taken a significant step to boost its in-house repair and maintenance operations by partnering with workshop equipment experts Totalkare to install items that will optimise the maintenance of their extensive fleet of excavators, dumper trucks, tractor trailers with low loaders, and bulldozers.

The recent upgrade includes the installation of a robust 10-metre inspection pit manufactured from high-quality pre-fabricated steel in the Midlands. This inspection pit features a side access tunnel, ensuring easy and safe entry and exit for maintenance personnel. Additionally, it is equipped with a pit jack, an oil drainer, and safety rails, which collectively enhance the efficiency and safety of maintenance procedures.

Complementing this installation, Totalkare has integrated an in-ground brake tester, shaker plates and headlamp tester into Les Searle Group‘s workshop.

Accurate and reliable

Totalkare’s TK70 brake tester is DVSA-approved and designed to provide accurate and reliable brake performance analysis. With its in-ground installation, the TK70 ensures seamless integration into the workshop environment, offering precise measurement of braking forces and efficiency. This enables Les Searle Group to quickly identify and address brake issues, ensuring the safety and compliance of their fleet.

The shaker plates are crucial for detecting suspension and steering system issues that might not be apparent during routine visual inspections. By simulating real-world driving conditions, the in-ground shaker plates help diagnose and rectify potential problems before they affect vehicle performance. This proactive approach minimises unexpected breakdowns and extends the lifespan of critical vehicle components.

A common reason for vehicle failure at annual test, proper headlamp performance and alignment is essential for road safety, particularly for large and heavy-duty vehicles. Totalkare’s 2500 headlamp tester provides precise adjustment and calibration of headlamps, ensuring optimal visibility and compliance with legal standards. This capability is vital for the safety of both Les Searle Group’s drivers and other road users.

Excellent solution aligned to requirements

Les Searle, Managing Director of Les Searle Group, praised the newly installed equipment: “We are delighted with the installation from Totalkare. The quality of manufacture of the vehicle pits, along with the build and functionality of the in-ground brake tester, shaker plates, and headlamp tester, are impressive. These tools are crucial for maintaining our fleet, directly underpins our ability to serve our customers best. With these advanced solutions, we can conduct thorough and efficient maintenance, reduce downtime, and enhance the reliability and safety of our operations. Totalkare has provided us with an excellent solution that aligns perfectly with our requirements.”

James Atkins, Projects Manager at Totalkare, elaborated on the benefits of the new equipment: “We’re thrilled to support Les Searle Group in elevating their workshop capabilities. Our comprehensive pit lane installation, including the TK70 brake tester, shaker plates, and headlamp tester, offers unparalleled precision and reliability. This equipment is designed to streamline vehicle diagnostics and maintenance, reducing operational disruptions and ensuring consistent, high-quality results. At Totalkare, we pride ourselves on delivering bespoke solutions that meet the specific demands of our clients, and this project is a prime example of our commitment to excellence.”
