New Mercedes-Benz Arocs for the Prague fire brigade

A new Mercedes-Benz Arocs was recently handed over to the volunteer fire brigade in the district of Zličín in Prague.

The event was attended by representatives of the city administration, the fire brigade management and the supply companies WISS CZECH and Daimler Truck Czech Republic. The vehicle is equipped with a WISS body.

The new fire service vehicle is based on a Mercedes-Benz Arocs 1846L. The two-axle chassis with 4x2 drive and air-sprung rear axle impresses with its powerful performance and state-of-the-art technology. With a permissible gross vehicle weight of 18 tonnes and an engine output of 455 hp (335 kW), the vehicle is optimally equipped for demanding operations.

What makes the vehicle particularly special is the automated Mercedes PowerShift 3 Advanced twelve-speed transmission, which features a special drive program for fire service vehicles. The Arocs is equipped as standard with a range of assist and safety systems that offer the driver, crew and other road users a high level of comfort and safety and partly exceed the legal requirements. In addition to the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and anti-slip regulation (ASR), these include, for example, the ESP Stability Control Program or the latest-generation Active Brake Assist (ABA) with pedestrian and cyclist detection. The Multimedia Cockpit Interactive features a central driver display and an additional touchscreen for intuitive control of driving and vehicle body functions.

The body of the vehicle comes from the manufacturer WISS and combines functionality and comfort. The crew compartment is integrated into the body and offers four seats with holders for breathing apparatus. It is seamlessly connected to the air-conditioned driver’s cab, which features two additional seats.

In the rear body there are two extinguishing agent tanks – a 4,000-litre water tank and a 240-litre foam agent tank – both with electronic level indicators. The installed Ruberg EH30 pump achieves a capacity of 2,000 litres per minute at 10 bar in low-pressure operation and 250 litres per minute at 40 bar in high-pressure operation. For quick deployment, the vehicle is equipped with a high-pressure hose reel (60 m DN25 hose) and a Protek 236 nozzle.

Six lockable equipment cabinets – three on each side of the vehicle – offer sufficient space for fire service accessories. An automatic high-pressure underbody protection, a front spray bar, RAMSEY cable winch (tractive force: 50.7 kN), high-performance roof monitor, telescopic light tower and a camera system for all-round monitoring of the vehicle provide additional operational capability.

With this comprehensive equipment, the new fire service vehicle is optimally prepared to provide quick and effective help in the event of fires, technical assistance and special hazardous situations.
