Sutterton Truck Stop Achieves Park Mark Freight Reaccreditation

21 October 20252 min read
The accreditation is an extension of the Safer Parking Scheme, a Police Crime Prevention Initiative to reduce crime in car parks.

Managed by the BPA on behalf of Police Crime Prevention Initiatives, each car park undergoes a rigorous assessment by police assessors that have been specially trained to do so. The Safer Parking Scheme introduces a wide range of security measures to car parks, protecting drivers and their property, reducing the risk of theft and other crimes in parking areas; lorry parks and truck stops accredited under the scheme are awarded the Park Mark Freight® certification, indicating they meet the highest standards of safety and security.

The Park Mark Freight award goes beyond the requirements of the base Park Mark award, having additional safety benchmarks and guarantees of the facilities needed for taking breaks during long journeys.

John Manuel, Designing Out Crime Officer, said “Sutterton truck stop provides excellent facilities incorporating all aspects of safety, security and exemplary management practices. The value and importance of having facilities like this that enable freight and the drivers a safe and secure place to stay cannot be underestimated from a police policing perspective’

James Townsend, Pro-Petro Property Director, said: “we are really proud of our team and at Sutterton Truck Stop and this award is a great asset to us and lets drivers and hauliers know we continue to be serious about protecting them and their vehicles. To receive the award is a fantastic achievement.”

Colin Sproats, BPA Area Manager said: “I am delighted that Sutterton Truck stop has achieved the Park Mark Freight award, demonstrating their hard work and commitment to provide a safe environment for their users along with a newly refurbished restaurant and excellent facilities for their customers.”
