About the role

We are looking for an experienced senior Generator Service/Project Engineer to join our growing close-knit team.As a Generator Engineer you will have an integral role within the business, assisting in the delivery of the businesses on-site activities. You must be able to work independently or as part of a team to meet customer expectations and achieve our company goals.This role is based in Exeter with the expectation to travel where needed, nights away will also be required on occasions.ResponsibilitiesTo cover all aspects of generator servicing including oil & filter changes and oil, fuel, and coolant sampling.To conduct load bank testing on generator unitsTo accurately fault find and diagnose both mechanical and electrical issues.To work on a broad range of generator / engine brands including (but not limited to) Cummins, JCB, Caterpillar, Volvo, Scania, Iveco.To be able to work independently on engines from 10kVA to 1000KVA.To complete all types of engine repairs (both mechanical and electrical).Fuel pumps, engine belts, starter motors, fuel hoses, cooling systems, AVR’s etc.Batteries, battery chargers, water jacket heaters, starter cables, key-switches etc.To be able to interrogate different control systems such as DSE, ComAp and DEIF.To understand changeover systems and synchronising of paired generators.To be able to complete or assist on mechanical engine rebuilds / top end overhauls.To be able to complete or assist on control panel upgrade works / retrofits.To demonstrate knowledge and experience of both mechanical and electrical skillsets.Essential Skills & ExperienceGood level of general educationMinimum of 5 years previous experience with a reputable Generator Hire organisationValid CSCS/ECS cardAbility to manage own workload and establish prioritiesExperience of working effectively as part of a team as well as independentlyAbility to solve problems with a positive attitudeSelf-motivated and able to learn quicklyStrong attention to detail with high levels of accuracyWillingness to undertake further training as required for professional developmentAble to liaise with customers professionally and convey informationHave an understanding that the Live Events industry regularly operates within un-sociable hoursDesirable Skills & ExperienceWorking as part of a team on large scale eventsBrand specific generator training coursesControls systems training coursesExperience with towing large trailersC+E Driving licenceElectrical qualifications – City & Guilds, 17th/18th editionBS7909Company Benefits28 days annual leave entitlementModern and comfortable commercial company vehicleMobile PhoneCompany Credit CardCompany LaptopJob specific tools and equipmentCompany pension schemeRegular overtime available for increased earning potentialPotential for HGV qualifications C+E to include training on HIAB, ADR etcNote: This job description is not exhaustive and may be subject to change or modification at any time.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: £37,000.00-£40,000.00 per yearBenefits:Company carCompany pensionFree or subsidised travelFree parkingOn-site parkingSchedule:10 hour shiftDay shiftHolidaysMonday to FridayNight shiftOvertimeWeekend availabilityApplication question(s):Do you have experience working with generators?Licence/Certification:Driving Licence (required)BS 7909 (preferred)Electrical qualifications (preferred)Work Location: In personReference ID: EngineerDec2023
