Job SummaryWe’re looking for a highly skilled, self-sufficient Night Shift HGV Technician to maintain and repair a mixed fleet of DAF, Mercedes and Volvo vehicles. You’ll be the sole technician on site overnight and across the weekend, taking responsibility for diagnostics, repairs, and planned maintenance to keep vehicles safe, compliant and operational.This role is ideal for an experienced HGV technician who is confident working independently, prioritising workload, and making sound technical decisions without direct supervision.Hours & Shift PatternNights: Thursday 18:00 – Monday 06:00Predominantly working alone on nights, with responsibility for keeping the fleet operational across the weekend4 x 12-hour shiftsPay & BenefitsUp to £25.00 per hourOvertime available28 days holiday (including bank holidays)Company pension schemePPE providedOn-site parkingKey ResponsibilitiesCarry out diagnostics, repairs, routine maintenance, and safety inspections to DVSA standards on mainly DAF, Volvo HGVs, Mercedes LCVs, and trailers.Attend breakdowns and carry out roadside assistance (when required)Install, maintain, and repair camera and telematics systems (relevant training will be provided)Complete all job cards and documentation accurately (paper or electronic)Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety, company procedures, and legal requirementsMaintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environmentLiaise with transport and operations teams to prioritise work and minimise vehicle downtime.Skills & Experience RequiredTime-served HGV Technician / Mechanic / Fitter with strong all-round experienceConfident working on HGVs and LCVs (main dealer or strong independent experience preferred)Comfortable working alone and unsupervised on nights; able to prioritise and make decisionsGood understanding of vehicle compliance, including PMIs and DVSA Roadworthiness requirements.Able to use diagnostic equipment and follow technical informationStrong commitment to health & safety and working to high quality standardsGood communication skills, including sourcing parts, liaising with drivers, and explaining defects and repairsQualificationsCity & Guilds or other adequate qualification to NVQ level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance - essentialFull UK driving licence, Cat C - essential, CE - beneficial.Driver CPC qualification - desirable but not essential.IRTEC Licence – desirable but not essential.
