Following a successful trial, the UK-based bakery brand went on to purchase a total of 7 electric trucks, to add to their collection of 170 7.5 tonne vehicles.
Warburtons, the UK’s largest bakery brand, has taken delivery of its first Yutong TE7 7.5t electric truck from Pelican Electric Trucks, marking a significant milestone in the company’s plans to electrify its 170-strong fleet of 7.5-tonne vehicles.
The first of seven Yutong TE7 trucks ordered by Warburtons has now been handed over at the company’s Wakefield depot and will begin delivering fresh bakery products to stores across Yorkshire.
The delivery follows a successful trial of the TE7 earlier this year and represents the next stage in Warburtons strategic programme to reduce emissions from its transport operations. The second vehicle is due to join the fleet shortly.
Warburtons has selected the 132kWh battery version of the TE7, offering a range of up to 180 miles on a single charge.
At the handover of their first of seven TE7 trucks, Steven Gray, Head of Transport at Warburtons said:

The Yutong TE7 uses proven Yutong electric vehicle technology and is designed to specifically for the demands of urban and regional distribution. The 7.5t electric truck is available with 100kWh and 132kWh battery options, offering a range of up to 180 miles.
